Junior Kings School February 2009

Junior Kings School have a Forest School, and used the famous picture of 'Umbrellas' by Renoir as their theme for art week.

Together we explored the childrens ability and enthusiasm to create sculptures with green willow. Their response was energetic and productive.

Individual hearts and flying insects were made to hang in the trees, a shower of raindrops was suspended and a large hoop to run through was attached to the trees. A nature mobile was hung with grasses, cones, leaves and moved with the wind. Group work was more challenging as the 'Renoir lady' was recreated in willow, and an umbrella near the entrance to the wood, made a small shelter to sit under.
