(Merlins Dragons Past)

It is believed in the 5th Century, Merlin
was called in to help Vortigen to solve a mystery
as to why the foundations of the fortress he was building kept falling down.
Merlin requested they dig below the foundations until they find a pool.
Once found they were to drain the water away.
This was carried out and two sleeping dragons were discovered and woken.
They soon began to fight.
The white dragon chased the red one away,
which later returned and chased the white dragon away.
It is said the pool symbolised the world ( the central mound in the sculpture)
and the dragons: the saxons and welsh.
At first the saxons will triumph but later the welsh will be free again. The red dragon is seen on
the welsh national flag today.

Venus of Willendorf

The original figure was found in 1908 in Austria, made of oolitic limestone and tinted with red ochre. She was only 11.1cm high, and as her feet so tiny, it is suggested she was meant to sit in the palm of your hand. (I have given her a base to stand on.)
It is believed she represents fertility

These little figures usually about 7cm high, were mass produced and found at a neolithic site named Tel Halaf near Mosel in Iraq. This ancient Syrian civilisation were accomplished potters, and created many woman figures thought to represent fertility and the feminine creative.
